On Malta, we offer diving with Maltaqua, owned and managed by Agnes Upton, in St. Paul’s Bay. On Gozo, George Vella will be looking after you from Calypso Divers. We include a 3 day car hire on Gozo, giving you the freedom to explore this fascinating island at your own pace.
Both have good facilities at their PADI 5-Star Instructor Development Centres, and can offer the best diving around in a friendly atmosphere. All PADI and BSAC courses are available from entry to professional level.
All of our tours offer experiences of cave and wreck diving, along with reef walls and drop offs. Many of the dives are accessed from the shore, so regardless of the weather there’s always a good site to be found. Prime dive sites are the Inland Sea, Tunnel, and Blue Hole at Dwejra. The Gozo ferry wreck of Xlendi, and numerous tugboats around Malta, including the Rozi are also great sites.
A classic wreck dive is the Um El Faroud, a tanker scuttled in September 1998 to make the perfect artificial reef. It sits on a sandy seabed at 35m in an upright position, good for penetration diving. It has been well colonized by marine plants and reef fish; schools of damselfish hover above the structure, along with parrotfish, scorpionfish and wrasse. If you’re lucky you may see a moray eel at home in some of the pipework! Approaching the wreck, you pass through busy shoals feeding around the rocky ledges that make up the coastal fringe reef.
We have devised a two-centre tour, bringing together the best of Malta and Gozo, staying three nights on Malta at the Sands Apartments (room only) with three days diving at Maltaqua. Transfer and ferry to Gozo, for a further four nights at the Calypso Hotel on bed and breakfast basis, three days car hire, and three days diving with Calypso divers.
